HABITAT /TANZHAUS NRW - DÜSSELDORF

Susanne Zellinger, FLAMENCO DIVINO, 06.04.2017

Daniel and Cristian are two of the most important representatives of the danza española and they have created with Habitat a piece that could be found on all the stages of the world, a perfect combination of tradition and avant-garde, a sophisticated and light show. They are accompanied by Alfredo Valero musician with a strong presence on the stage, Daniel and Cristian danced “Córdoba de Albania” an exquisite Pas de Deux, almost weightless that belongs to the repertoire of the Spanish Dance and was accompanied by a beautiful lighting of Olga García. David Vázquez’s traditional singing by Romances was far-reaching, a journey into tradition where a purist approach is emphasized through the naked voice, without the accompaniment of any instrument. A night like a gust of wind, that when it had just begun, it was all over.

WITHOUT BOUBTONE OF BEST DANCE DISPLAYS OF THE SUMMER

Roger Salas, El País, printed edition.

An outstanding show in every sense of the word; where ideas, great choreography, and deep performance gather with something to say. Daniel Doña´s dance company is rich in its dance styles; that range from flamenco to contemporary dance generating stunning images where beauty in posture and gesture is traversed by innovative and moving choreographies taken to a dark and rough land. There are four interdisciplinary artists on stage, very different from each other, but joined by their honesty, their urge to experiment and their wonderful technique. They travel through the ageless art of flamenco and they keep it alive.

“… Daniel Doña and Cristian Martín entranced the audience that embraced them from the beginning, they have control over their bodies, tempo and dance accessories, with a futuristic esthetic, they gave the audience what they came to see at a festival like Ciutat Flamenco.
